Flying home after a day's fishing

Three pelicans fly home, over the sandy isthmus, from Great to Lesser Prespa

Prespa's pelicans, both the Dalmatian and the Great white (pelecanus crispus and p. onocrotalus), breed in the reed beds and lagoons at the north of Lake Lesser Prespa. More often than not though, they go to Great Prespa to fish. The jetty close to the Koula channel is a great place to see them, as well as cormorants, egrets and herons.

The photographs were taken from the blue marker, on the shore of Great Prespa. The pelican colonies are in various places amongst the reed beds of Lesser Prespa, around the red marker.
