Butterfly watch - Aporia crataegi

Updated: May 8, 2020

Extinct in the UK since 1925, Aporia crataegi is common on mainland Europe, throughout temperate Asia all the way to Japan. It's normally found at altitudes of 500m - 2000m though, so don't expect to see it everywhere. At the right altitude in southern Europe, look for it flying between April and July in open forest, grazing land, meadows, orchards and gardens.
